Just gotta do it
It has been a month since I have been here to share anything. It was easier to keep up with this when I was consistantly posting. Now I feel like i need to post to update and get myself back into this. Christmas break ended and we all went back to school and work. We're back in the groove of our usual activities - school, softball, dancing, scouts along with still plugging away at business plans, shoveling more snow and getting things done around the house.
Ashley sang Bubbly in the school Talent Show. She was great, people asked if she was taking voice lessons too. I said of course, in school music class! She also played the cello in the orchestra concert, sold pizza for softball and got straight A's on her report card.
Alex has been occupied by hanging out with his friend who's sister plays softball with Ashley, preparing for his first band concert and getting his report card as well. He has some improvements to make - more like an extreme make-over.
Grandma has been busy cooking up a great trip to visit big Grandpa & Dolores in Texas. The kids are excited. Let's see, Padre Island for 4th/5th grade spring trip - what are they going to ask for when they get to high school?
Two weeks until we get some indication on how quickly our future will become a reality. Let's cross our fingers. In the mean time, I walk through the house asking myself if I would buy each room - if not, what do we need to do to want to buy it. I would love nothing less than to sell quickly before the dogs are able to make the backyard a mess. I am hoping that contingencies like there will be a different light fixture in the dining room when we leave and we will leave the backyard sodded - will work themselves out and make everyone happy. Hopefully in March we will be able to finally have a new business party.
We look forward to seeing little Cora soon - it has been too long. Each Monday we go down for softball, we are running tight on time to get there, it seems really late when we get done and Ashley still has a ton of homework to complete so we haven't been able to be all social like I had hoped.
Ashley will be installed in her first station in Rainbow tomorrow night. She is excited. Alex is excited for the brothers of Ashley's friends being there - aka future DeMolay.
Today we ended up getting walloped with snow. I went to school but called in our kids. It was crazy. There were only a handful of kids to babysit in school so I was there for most of the day then left at 10:15 to come home to my own kids and the Hathorn kids who were having fun hanging out, playing inside and playing outside.
I have been a crazy political junky. Drew said today he was going to block MSNBC on the tvs. No MSNBC & politics - no hunting shows or Discovery Show.
So major things have not been going on - just lots of busy work. More later, it is a great time for a nap!

Mr Z's Pizza Fundraiser for Travel Softball
It's time to stock your freezer with delicious pizzas and help Ashley and her team meet their fundraising goals.
In effort to keep the basic fees down and so the teams experience tournaments like the one they played for charity in Iowa last summer, we have the opportunity to share Mr Z's awesome pizzas, soups and desserts with you while helping out the team.

It's just time
It seems like just yesterday December was almost over and Christmas was around the corner. Like most school age children in America, we were on Christmas vacation break. Also like most children we were thrilled to have the break and the late sleeping mornings - well some.
The most common Christmas vacation lasts for two weeks. Children are given this time to take a break from their schoolwork and spend time with their families.
There are several different ways that children can spend their Christmas vacation. Some children are lucky enough to have a parent that does not work or a parent that gets the same vacation time as the school system. These children get to stay home through the break.
Other children are not so lucky. While their parents are heading back to work from the couple of days that they received off for Christmas break, the children are heading to a grandparent's house or to a babysitter. Fortunately this is not our case. We have the comforts of a home and usually a pretty free schedule to use time as we please.
Drew has worked constantly but the three of us are at that point where we are like caged animals ready to go crazy!
Alex is bored of playing video games so he is inviting a friend over tomorrow. His hair was crazy long so he got a hair cut the other night - much better. After being in my own little zone in the mornings, I have discovered he has been blessed with the awesome talent for cooking eggs and sausage really good - just like his dad. I am horrible at cooking eggs because I just don't focus, I usually try to do other things while they are cooking and end up ruining them. Alex saved us from cereal! Who knew that would happen?!
Ashley is bored, she blew through both latch hook rugs she got for Christmas and is ready to make them into pillows. She has gotten herself into crazy mode because she has a project due 12 days from now (NO!) on Immigrants - where her family came from etc. She has made great progress including having the German national anthem loaded onto her ipod along with the karaoke version of "Bubbly" to prepare for the talent show tryouts. So basically, she sleeps late then wakes up and sings all day. She did go to Rainbow last night so she was extatic to get out of the house.
I have made major progress in weeding out things that are just taking up space. I had the back of the truck full when I went to drop it all off at the Salvation Army the other day. Thank goodness it is garbage day today so the can is empty again and the garbage schedule will be back to normal next week.
I can't bring myself to take the tree down yet. I'm waiting until after Twelth night or the Epithany or the close of Christmas to many Western Europeans.
As far as any new business goes, right now there has been a building inspection and it is now all about waiting patiently for a call back from this guy and that guy so forward progress can be made. There is a lot of just filling in the blank to do. So I'm bored not being able to do more there.
I taunted Sarah to see if she wanted to see the invitation for their baby shower because we (the 4 of us) all decided they are just all Sarah. I saved an original version as a picture file and sent her a copy but it had the wrong date on it. I got correct version of the inivtation printed out for the shower in February. I am almost done with addressing and stamping. I need to get some more envelopes tomorrow.
Yesterday I turned into a complete political junky. I never took the time to understand what a "caucus" really was but I did yesterday. I have equated it to a Greek "rush party" in college.
Last night I flipped back and forth between Celebrity Apprentice and MSNBC. Similarly to these two events, Alex waiting until the last days of break to invite a friend over, Ashley's discipline to work on school work, and doing a little bit of leg work every day to get a business going, no one is getting anywhere without actually taking the initiative and doing something about it.
I have been considering making a major change in my appearence - a new year, new business coming soon... Well yesterday I spent a lot of time focusing on politics but also hair. There is a lot of great hair on the campaign trail. Long, thick, great looking hair. Chelsea Clinton, Cindy McCain and Ann Romney all have really great hair. I don't have great thick hair. Growing out my bangs is getting old. So I took a break from MSNBC, checked out the mirror, closed my eyes, made one cut and called Ashley because I needed her assistance...

The crazy growing out bangs and the little snap barrette to keep them out of my face are gone. The long strings are gone. Fortunately Ashley does well in her art and geometry classes so she gets the concept of a straight line. Ashley cutting my hair for free is a great exchange for her pitching / hitting lessons. :) Drew says 4 1/2 inches were cut off.
As it has become time for so many things this week to fight being bored, it is again time to take some initiative to get more done.
