Today was the first day of school for us all. Ashley's first day of 6th grade, Alex's first day of 5th grade. This was the first day in five years that Ashley and Alex are in different schools. It was a half day of school for the kids. Ashley's school starts at 7 and Alex's school starts at 9 so the protective sister was very concerned when Alex was not home when she was. Half days are interesting. By the time a half day in middle school is over (10:20), Alex is almost just getting home (he get's out at 12:20).
Ashley is the baby of the school while Alex is the top dog. It will be an interesting and exciting year for us all.
The first day of school we let them fudge the dress code a little. Tomorrow is another day of strict dress code.
Notice how big the crab apple tree has grown much less how much the kids have grown! That tree was as big as they are now when I planted it 10 years ago!

Those are some big kids. They have grown like weeds to use a cliche.
It doesn't seem right that they are up to middle school already. High School is just around the corner now. No wonder I'm old, I have grand kids that are close to driving. They are incredible.

Okay, how about some school reports now. What did you learn the first days of this year? How're the teachers? What's homework been? Any new friends? Has it been exciting?
And you can't use "Not Much" in any of the answers.
